Elected Leaders
A CAKC climate leader is a local elected official who shares a common set of values and a willingness to work locally – and regionally – towards a more prosperous Kansas City metropolitan region.
These values are simple:
Climate Change is real. Humans are having an impact on the warming of our planet. Without any change, we will see increased heat, extreme weather, and
It is Time to Act There is a need for immediate, coordinated and visionary action to address the impacts of a changing climate and provide for economic and environmental resilience in the Kansas City metro area.
Cities are different. CAKC does not provide mandates but rather serves as a convener, promoting strategies that each regional and local government may align to their own plans and adopt and utilize based on their opportunities and vision for the future.
We go further by working together. CAKC leaders share a willingness to jointly develop and advocate for mutually beneficial agreements, policies and strategies intended to influence regional, state and national resilience efforts and advance “Good Neighbor” relationships
There is hope. Working together, CAKC can help implement policies and programs to stimulate the economy, address climate change, and create a sustainable, clean, and just metropolitan region.
